Research and Planning process

 Costume

Our actor was dressed in a grey top, jeans and boots and she wore her hair in plaits. We chose this look for our actor as we believed it was a simple and bland look. We thought that by doing this look, it portrays the girls age and makes her look even younger than her actual age. This was a good idea as the actor was portrayed young, it made our thriller even more scarier due to the situation and story line was about an older man which is automatically more creepy.

Locations

Our locations insisted of a forest and a kicthen. We left our locations very little as we wanted the thriller to be more about the story line other than the locations and sets. The forest scene was done very well as it was influenced by horror films. The location was ideal for the type of thriller we were trying to portray to our audience, as it wasn't too dark as it let through a lot of light and we liked the way it was a simple idea, but we created it to become more effective and eerie by adding the breathing sound in the background purely to create suspense and tension to our audience. The kitchen location was worked very well with our theme too as it was a simple, stereotypical kitchen that didn't take the attention away from our storyline and most importantly, the actor.

Props

book plant torch
The props we used in our thrillrt task were very limited for the same reason as the locations. We thought that if the props were limited and simple it would draw the attention to the actor and make the audience think more into what the thriller is about. The props included the book. We added the book into this scene as it made the actor look innocent and niave. This was just what we wanted to portray during this scene, as we hadn't seen much of the actor before this point, we thought this was a perfect idea to inform the audience of what type of character the actor is playing in our thriller task. Our other props included the props in kitchen which were things such as the apron in back, and the plant which we put there to give it a more homely affect, which again was used to show the innocence. The last prop we used was a torch, we used this to give a thrilling affect as the angle we placed it in made the actors face scary, which was our aim to scare the audience.

Fimling Schedule
Our filming shcedule went to plan as every time we organised to film parts of the thriller we all stuck to that time. It took a bit longer than expected when we first began to film as we kept changing our ideas to improve the thriller to make it even better than our original plan. Overall, our filming schedule was around two half days worth of filming and anaylising.

Lucy

The thriller Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson begins innocently with her having a simple job of delivering a briefcase of which she does not know what is inside. Almost immediately as the film begins Lucy is caught up in a situation that she was not expecting. Lucy's body undergoes unimaginable changes that begins to unlock her mind's full potential. With her new-found powers, Lucy turns into a merciless warrior intent on getting back at her captors. With her former captors in pursuit, Lucy finds a neurologist (Morgan Freeman) the leading authority on the human mind in aim for him to help her.

The once-carefree student is abducted by thugs who intend to turn her into a drug mule. She is surgically implanted with a package containing a powerful chemical, but unintentionally the product leaks into her system due to the captors kicking her in the abdomen and releases the drugs in her body giving her more access to her brain. She goes to the nearest hospital and insists the doctors take out the drugs with her completely awake as the drugs have made her body immune to pain. The doctors are unable to do so as the drugs have leaked through her body.

Filming and Editing

During this task, we filmed different scenes at different times. The first thing our group filmed is walking through the forest. This scene only had one take as we perfected it the first time due to planning it the week before, so we knew exactly what we wanted to do. When we went over to the area, we placed the camera on Megan's shoulder and she began to walk and then jog through the forest. We decided on doing this as it gives the effect of 'hand held' camera angle, which makes it looks very natural and it also gives tension as you can not guess what it going to happen next. We replayed the clip back on the camera and we loved it, so we kept it and went back to the lesson. As we knew what we wanted this clip for, we began to edit it on the computer. We started by putting the clip in slow motion, for tension. Then we placed a discreet heart beat in the background, along with some heavy breathing. After we finished editing this clip, we replayed it back and we all loved it as it drew lots of tension and horror, so we were very satisfied with that.

After we had our first clip filmed and edited, we started on our company labels. We had already made the names for each company, but we just needed to make them and edit them so they were ready to be put in our clip.

After we had our first clip filmed and edited, we started on our company labels. We had already made the names for each company, but we just needed to make them and edit them so they were ready to be put in our clip.  Our first company name we made was 'Blackcat Productions, this was my idea as I thought the company name sounded professional and unique. The creating of the company logo was very simple, as all we did was find a font for the name that we thought looked best and suited the theme/name the most, then we added the cat image, then the company logo was created and finished.

Then we began to create our other company name/logo. We called it 'Firewalk Entertainment' as we thought the name was very simple, but then we all thought of the idea to have a a flame behind the name with an empowering sound. We got the background noise of youtube, along with the flame and put it all in the clip behind the name.

When we added these company logos in, we were then finished with our first draft for our thriller video.
